Ever wondered why you’re attracted to certain colours? Much like crystals… the colour chooses you.
If you look up the definition of colour this is what you get: ‘the property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way it reflects or emits light’. Sensations, light, reflection.
More than just a colour right?
Light makes all things visible and some beautiful words that are also associated with light include: shining, glowing, luminosity and many more. In parts of South America the chakras are known as ojos de luz, or eyes of light. The chakras are the organs of the luminous energy field which is also known as our ‘light body’… you may be more familiar with ‘aura’. This energy, this light, surrounds all living beings. When the luminous energy field becomes toxic as a result of environmental or emotional pollutants, the chakras become clogged. This in turn leads to feelings of no energy, easily irritated or depressed. Our internal light becomes blocked. Our natural ability to self heal is remarkable which is why you may find yourself drawn to particular colours in an attempt to repair and restore.
Chakras and associated colours
So what is a chakra? We mentioned briefly above as ‘organs of the luminous energy field’. They are ‘wheels’ of energy, and we have 7 of them, positioned throughout our body, from the base of you spine to the crown of your head. Each chakra has its own vibrational frequency, that is depicted through a specific chakra colour, and each chakras contains bundles of nerves and major organs as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being.
For example the heart centre ‘Anahata’ chakra number 4 is our source of love & connection, which is why we physically experience heart ache when we face challenges with love & connection. Our bodies are in constant flux between balance and imbalance which is why it’s important to be aware of which of our chakras are out of balance so we can work towards aligning them.
